An Italian Navy ship with a small group of migrants docked at an Albanian port on Friday, November 8.
This was reported by the Reuters agency, as conveyed by "European Truth".
According to a reporter from the agency, the ship arrived around 8:00 AM at the Albanian port.
It is noted that on Wednesday, November 6, eight migrants rescued near the island of Lampedusa were sent away.
Albania has signed an agreement with Italy to accept refugees at special detention centers built by Italy to assist Rome in managing illegal migration.
Italy has constructed two migrant reception centers in Albania as part of the country's first European Union project to redirect migrants to a non-EU country. The facilities in Shëngjin and Gjadër are staffed by Italian personnel.
The first group of migrants arrived from Egypt and Bangladesh, two of the 22 countries classified by Italy as safe. At the same time, Roman judges questioned this, citing a recent European Court ruling stating that a country outside the EU cannot be deemed safe if its entire territory is not considered free from danger.
As a result, the entire group was returned to Italy to asylum seeker centers, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that her government is working to immediately implement provisions to unblock the agreement with Albania for sending asylum seekers there following the court's decision.
