According to the fire brigade of the department, the blaze ignited around 7:20 AM. The staff of the facility alerted the firefighters about the incident.

Approximately 80 residents live in the nursing home, with around thirty of them in a secured unit.

About a hundred firefighters were mobilized to extinguish the flames. The Montmorency gendarmerie is investigating the circumstances of the fire.

According to the prosecutor's office, the fire originated in the facility's laundry room.

A NOVI plan has been activated – an emergency plan for rescuing a large number of victims in one location.

Recently, eight people died and seven were injured in a fire at a nursing home near Belgrade.

In November, during a fire at a nursing home in Serbia, two people lost their lives.
