Iceland has announced the date for parliamentary elections following the collapse of the coalition government.

Iceland has confirmed that early parliamentary elections will be held due to the collapse of the coalition, setting the date for November 30th.

In Iceland, early parliamentary elections have been confirmed due to the collapse of the coalition, with the date set for November 30.

As reported by "European Truth," this information comes from Reuters.

President Halla Thomasdottir announced on the evening of October 15 that the country will hold early parliamentary elections on November 30.

Icelandic legislation stipulates that elections must be held no later than 45 days after the announcement of the dissolution of the legislative body.

It is worth noting that over the weekend, Iceland's Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson declared the ruling coalition's collapse, which included the Independence Party, the center-right Progressive Party, and the Greens, and called for early elections on November 30.

Bjarni Benediktsson has been Prime Minister for only six months—he took office in April after the previous Prime Minister, Katrin Jakobsdottir, stepped down to run in the presidential elections.

Benediktsson attributed the current situation to increasing disagreements among the three ruling parties on various issues—from foreign policy to asylum seeker challenges.

The government has also faced challenges due to economic difficulties and a series of volcanic eruptions on the Reykjanes Peninsula, which forced residents of an entire town to evacuate, likely permanently.
