Sugar factories that are members of the National Association of Sugar Producers "Ukrtsukor" have produced 1.165 million tons of sugar from the beginning of the 2024/25 season up to November 21, reported the press service of the association.
"Ukrainian sugar factories have already processed 9 million tons of sugar beets, resulting in the production of 1.165 million tons of sugar, which is nearly equivalent to the figures for the same date last year," the statement notes.
The industry association highlighted that during the 2024/2025 marketing year, 29 sugar factories in Ukraine are involved in processing sugar beets, 28 of which are members of the association.
Meanwhile, the harvesting of sugar beets in Ukraine is nearly complete, with 11.9 million tons collected from an area of 251.2 thousand hectares, yielding an average productivity of 47.6 tons per hectare.
As reported by the "Interfax-Ukraine" agency, citing data from the "Ukrtsukor" association, there were 37 sugar factories operating in Ukraine in 2023. One factory in the Kharkiv region, located in a de-occupied area, was not prepared to enter the processing season because local farmers did not plant sugar beets.
