The prices for live weight pork have remained unchanged for the third consecutive week, standing at 74-75 UAH per kg, reported the Association of "Pig Farmers of Ukraine" following their weekly monitoring.
"As a result of last week's trading, most market operators continued to purchase pigs of slaughter condition at prices within the range of 74-75 UAH/kg. While there are occasional quotes that deviate by 1 UAH/kg higher or lower than these figures, as was the case the previous week, prices generally gravitate towards this range. The weighted average price per kilogram has stabilized at 74.2 UAH/kg," analysts noted.
According to their information, meat processors are facing increased pressure on the prices of chilled pork carcasses due to intense competition stemming from seasonally weak sales. On the other hand, sluggish trading is offset by limited live weight supply, which is evident not only in the east and center but also in the western regions. Some operators believe that this will help maintain purchase prices at the current level, as concluded by the ASU.
