The current President of the United States, Donald Trump, reiterated his criticism of his predecessor, Joe Biden, regarding the pardoning of certain family members, while also expressing that it is "sad" that Biden did not pardon himself.
The statement from the sitting American president was reported by CNN, according to "European Truth".
Specifically, Trump mentioned that it might be "sad" that Biden did not grant himself a pardon.
"And you know, the funniest thing, or maybe the saddest, is that he didn't pardon himself," he noted in an interview with Fox News.
Later, Trump added that he himself "went through four years of hell," "spent millions of dollars on legal fees," but he "won, although it was a tough road."
"And it's very hard to say that they shouldn't have to go through all of that. So it's very difficult to say," the U.S. president added.
When asked if he would like Congress to investigate his predecessor, Trump replied, "I think we will let Congress decide."
In the final hours of his presidency, Biden exercised his constitutional powers to pardon his brother James B. Biden and his wife Sara Jones Biden.
Biden also pardoned his sister Valerie Biden Owens, her husband John T. Owens, and his younger brother Francis Biden.
Prior to that, Biden decided to preemptively pardon former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley and former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci.
Additionally, those who served on the committee investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack were included in the preemptive pardons.
