A flat Earth supporter sailed to the edge of the world to prove their theory right. Here's what went wrong on their journey.

The host of a popular flat Earth show traveled to the icy continent to test his theory and ultimately discovered the truth.

Since the times of the ancient Greeks, over 2000 years ago, people have known that the Earth is not flat, but rather spherical. Yet, today, there are still individuals convinced that we actually live on a gigantic flat disk floating in space, known as "Flat Earth," writes Daily Mail.

Now, one of the most well-known proponents of the flat Earth theory, Jeran Campanella, host of the popular YouTube show "Jeransim," traveled to Antarctica to test his theory. He immediately witnessed that the sun does not set during the summer in the Southern Hemisphere, which contradicts the beliefs of flat Earth supporters who think that Antarctica is an ice wall where the sun rises and sets daily.

Upon arriving in Antarctica, Campanella admits that sometimes everyone is mistaken — for instance, he believed that there was no 24-hour sun. He also claims that he was almost certain of this; however, during his expedition, he found evidence that the sun indeed moves around you in the south.

It is worth noting that the Earth supporter did not claim that the planet is spherical, but stated that he and other proponents of the theory would now have to understand what it means that the sun does not set during the summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

Campanella's trip cost $35,000 and inadvertently turned out to be one that debunked his own flat Earth theory. Campanella stated that he expected the sun to rise and disappear beyond the horizon. But in a new clip, he sheepishly admits the truth and acknowledges that people might see him as a "plant" — a fraud participating in the supposed cover-up of the Earth being round. Ultimately, he stated that he previously sincerely believed that there was no 24-hour sun in the world, but now he genuinely believes that it actually exists.

It is well known that Antarctica is an island continent located at the southernmost part of the Earth. Due to the tilt of the Earth, the sun does not set during the summer in the southern hemisphere (or northern hemisphere) — it simply moves in a circle in the sky. In simple terms, the sun remains visible all day long, including at midnight — a phenomenon known as the "midnight sun."

At the same time, flat Earth theory supporters believe that Antarctica is an ice wall surrounding all continents and holding back the World Ocean. Therefore, they think that the sun rises and sets there every day, regardless of whether it is summer or not.

To explain the cycle of day and night, most theorists believe that the sun moves in a circle around the North Pole, and sunlight acts like a spotlight over the Earth. For years, flat Earth supporters have claimed that Antarctica would reveal the truth about the shape of our planet, making a visit to the icy continent seem like solid evidence for the theory. Unfortunately, it was the journey to Antarctica that debunked the flat Earth myth.

Interestingly, flat Earth supporters acknowledged that there is a 24-hour sun; however, this did not affect their belief that our planet is flat.
