Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will retain his previously agreed position as Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, despite his appointment to the Norwegian government.

According to "European Truth," this was reported by the press service of the Munich Security Conference.

The conference leadership announced that Stoltenberg's appointment as Minister of Finance in the updated Norwegian government is postponed but does not cancel his role as Chairman of the Munich Security Conference – he will assume these duties once his government service period concludes.

"We are proud that our future chairman Jens Stoltenberg has been asked to serve his country once again. Until his return from public service, the conference will be in reliable hands – the two current vice presidents, Benedict Franke and Rainer Rudolph, along with an experienced board of directors, will help manage the work," commented Wolfgang Ischinger, President of the Conference Foundation Council.

"I am grateful for the decision to temporarily relieve me of my duties while I serve my country once more. I will remain engaged with the activities of the Munich Security Conference and its numerous events to the extent that my new position allows," he stated.

Since the fall, it has been known that Stoltenberg is set to become the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference in February 2025, succeeding German Christoph Heusgen. Consequently, rumors about his potential appointment as Minister of Finance came as a surprise.
