Controversial Georgeșcu clarified his remarks regarding territorial claims on Ukraine.

Far-right Romanian politician Călin Georgescu, who won the canceled first round of the presidential elections in Romania, stated that he discusses the potential incorporation of "Romanian lands" within Ukraine "purely theoretically" and believes that Romanian politicians have the right to address this issue.

Far-right Romanian politician Călin Georgescu, who won in the annulled first round of the presidential elections in Romania, stated that he speaks about the possibility of joining "Romanian lands" as part of Ukraine "purely theoretically" and that, in his opinion, Romanian politicians have the right to do so.

As reported by Digi24, as mentioned by "European Truth," he made this statement during a television broadcast on Sunday.

Georgescu explained that he was discussing the division of Ukraine as an "absolutely theoretical hypothesis" and labeled the politicians who criticized his remarks as "short-sighted."

"We must learn from our historical experience. The world is changing now... Back during World War II, we made many mistakes; we did not understand well how to position ourselves. And Great Romania became Little Romania. This is the reality," said Georgescu, adding that "it's good to be prepared for anything."

Last week, Călin Georgescu made repeated references to "Romanian territories of Ukraine", echoed Russian propaganda claims that "Ukraine is a fictional state," and referred to President Volodymyr Zelensky as a "semi-dictator."

Following Georgescu's remarks, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed unwavering support for Ukrainian sovereignty.
