Multicookers undoubtedly emerged as one of the most popular gadgets of the past year; however, researchers have identified a discrepancy.
Миллионы людей оказались обманутыми: эксперты раскрыли скрытую правду об аэрогрилях, о которой никто не догадывался.

Since the introduction of multi-cookers or air fryers to the market, they have gained the affection of consumers. Now, many people around the world consider this gadget essential for the kitchen, but a new study reveals information about air fryers that may mislead users, according to Daily Mail.

One reason air fryers have captured the hearts of consumers is that the gadget uses hot air for cooking instead of hot oil. As a result, users enjoy a quicker and healthier alternative to deep fryers.

Despite the many advantages of multi-cookers, the new research also uncovered a discrepancy—misleading information about the gadget that has confused millions of users worldwide. Researchers note that this information pertains to the device's capacity.

The issue is that most manufacturers specify the capacity of air fryers in liters, which can mislead users as not all internal space of the gadget is usable. Experts conducted a lab test measuring the capacity of food in grams. The results indicate that the actual capacity typically ranges from 60% to 80% of what manufacturers claim.

Experts point out that the smallest air fryers usually hold only up to 400 grams of food. For reference, this is about two servings of chips and roughly equivalent to the amount of food you can fit on two baking trays in an oven.

Researchers found that for cooking for two or more people, it is advisable to use dual air fryers, which typically have a larger capacity. However, scientists also discovered that multi-cookers with larger external dimensions may actually have less cooking space. On average, the capacity of air fryers ranges from 0.6 to 2.3 kg of food.

It is worth noting that this study was part of a product testing review by Which? magazine. According to the magazine's editor, Harry Rose, they conduct rigorous and independent tests annually, revealing secrets and debunking myths—this helps people make informed purchasing decisions.

Previously, researchers from the University of Birmingham also found that air fryers contribute only a small fraction of indoor air pollution compared to other cooking methods. In their study, the team prepared chicken breast using five popular methods, including boiling, air frying, and pan frying. The analysis results showed that using an air fryer produces the least amount of particulate matter and volatile organic compounds among all five methods studied.

Moreover, scientists have previously found that indoor air pollutants can increase the risk of several diseases.
