A new era on Earth: 2025 officially marks the beginning of a new generation of humanity.

Researchers have concluded that Generation Alpha is about to face competition from the children born starting January 1st.
Новая эпоха на Земле: 2025 год станет официальным стартом нового поколения человечества.

Babies born on or after January 1, 2025, belong to Generation Beta — individuals born between 2025 and 2039 who will compete with the Alpha generation. Researchers have concluded that by 2035, Generation Beta will make up 16% of the world's population, with many members of this generation expected to live into the 22nd century, as reported by Science Alert.

The analysis was conducted by the research firm McCrindle, founded by social researcher Mark McCrindle, who coined the term Alpha generation (Gen Alpha). It is important to note that researchers typically use a brief overview of generations for those born in the last 100 years:

  • Beta generation: 2025-2039;
  • Alpha generation: 2010-2024;
  • Generation Z: 1997-2009;
  • Millennials: 1981-1996;
  • Generation X: 1965-1980;
  • Baby Boomers: 1946-1964;
  • Silent Generation: 1928-1945.

Researchers also note that Generation Beta is likely to be significantly shaped by technology, just like their predecessors, Generation Alpha, who have previously been criticized for their dependency on technology.

According to McCrindle, the lives of Generation Beta will be defined by artificial intelligence and automation, and members of this generation will likely face serious social issues such as the climate crisis and global migration.

Researchers have also found that parents of Alpha generation children are increasingly grappling with managing their children's relationships with technology and artificial intelligence tools that have become widespread since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022.

In a 2023 study, scientists discovered that one in five students who had heard of ChatGPT used it to assist with their studies. Researchers previously argued that parents of Generation Alpha should keep their children as far away from social media as possible, citing concerns that social media can adversely affect children's mental health.

It is worth noting that the validity of using generational tags has been questioned in the past. However, according to Michael Dimock, president of the Pew Research Center, it is best to view these categories as a lens for reflecting on societal changes rather than as labels.
