Smartphone is not just a communication tool, but also a repository for personal data, which makes it crucial to ensure its security.
Expert Tim Tran from Keeper Security emphasized that there are several clear signs that may indicate your device has been compromised and that someone could be spying on you. Cybersecurity specialists highlight that hacking a smartphone can be much easier than you think. For instance, while browsing web pages, you might inadvertently install spyware without even realizing it.
Here are six signs to watch for to detect a breach in a timely manner:
Strange noises during calls
If you hear unusual sounds, beeping, or distant voices during a phone call, it could indicate that your phone is intercepting other conversations. Such issues can arise from poor signal quality, but they shouldn't be ignored.
Sudden drop in performance and rapid battery drain
If your phone has started to operate significantly slower and the battery drains much faster than usual, it may be due to spyware running in the background.
Unexpected activation of the camera or microphone
Ensure that the activity indicators on your screen notify you when the camera or microphone is activated. If they turn on without your knowledge, it could indicate attempts to spy on you.
Unknown apps or files on your phone
If you notice unfamiliar apps or uninstalled files on your smartphone, it may be direct evidence that your device has been hacked.
Error messages and spam advertisements
If your phone has started receiving advertising SMS, spam, or fraudulent messages regularly, it may be a sign of adware or spyware collecting your information.
Constant overheating of the smartphone
If your phone heats up without any apparent reason, it could be because spyware is using the device's resources in the background.
If you notice one or more of these signs, remove unfamiliar programs, restart your phone, and ensure that all software updates are installed. You can also disable camera and microphone access for all applications.
