The European Commission (EC) will conduct a screening of Ukrainian legislation concerning the negotiation section on veterinary medicine and phytosanitary requirements in February 2025, announced the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval, following a meeting with the Director-General of the EC's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), Sandra Gallina.
"We discussed the upcoming screening for the negotiation section on veterinary medicine and phytosanitary requirements and the ministry's preparations for this important process. The screening is scheduled for February 2025, but we are already actively preparing. We also agreed to hold a mock session in December of this year to familiarize ourselves with the procedure," he wrote on Telegram.
The parties also addressed issues related to Ukraine's European integration and the entry of Ukrainian agricultural producers into the European Union markets.
The Minister noted that Gallina confirmed the continued support for Ukraine from DG SANTE, particularly that their experts will continue to share their knowledge with Ukrainian ministries to harmonize Ukrainian legislation with EU law.
