In a conversation with CBR, Zahn discussed his interest in portraying vulnerable characters and the comfortable partnership he developed with Rebecca Ferguson during the filming of the second season of "Refuge."
Steve Zahn: "It’s really interesting to play such a vulnerable character. It’s a complex and lengthy process. I played someone similar [in “War for the Planet of the Apes”] Bad Ape. Apes are truly vulnerable. I find such characters fascinating. I had time to grow out my beard and hair, and I thought that would be great."
