The involvement of the USA in the reconstruction of Ukraine will bring value not only to Ukrainians but also to Americans, reports Politeka.net.
Scott Bessent shared this insight in an interview with Fox News following his visit to Kyiv. He explained that the trip was part of President Donald Trump's efforts to end the war in Ukraine. The Secretary emphasized that it is crucial for the American people to understand that their support will not only assist Ukraine but also provide benefits to the USA, as noted by Politeka.
"I went there to convey to Ukrainians that we expect accountability, but we want to be their partners in a different capacity, and the American people are ready to engage in the post-war economy," he remarked.
The U.S. Secretary of the Treasury underscored the importance of accountability from Ukrainian authorities, while also expressing the United States' readiness to be reliable partners in the post-war period. He clarified that the role of the USA in post-war Ukraine could involve participation in the development of strategic minerals, the energy sector, and state enterprises, although he did not disclose specific details.
During a press conference in Kyiv, he stated that the agreement between Ukraine and the USA regarding mineral extraction will serve as the foundation for Ukraine's "security shield" in the future.
