The deployment of peacekeepers to Ukraine would imply that Europe doubts the return of territories occupied by Russia.
This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an interview with the German publication RND, where he expressed his views on the idea of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
"I believe that such discussions are inappropriate and premature. It is assumed that Ukraine will not regain part of its territory from Russia. I am speaking very seriously when I say that nothing should be decided without the Ukrainians. First, we need an end to the conflict and real negotiations, rather than a dictated peace. Only then can we see what future security guarantees for Ukraine might look like."
Scholz also noted that even after the war concludes, Ukraine will not be able to sustain its army solely through its own resources. Therefore, it will require support from international partners to finance its defense capabilities.
