The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted an important resolution allowing relatives of individuals missing under special circumstances to receive a deferral from mobilization.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Previously, this category of citizens was unable to be granted such a right due to legal uncertainties. The governmental initiative, supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, aimed to eliminate these obstacles, as stated by the agency's press service.
Until now, to receive a deferral, relatives of missing military personnel were forced to go to court for official recognition of the individual as missing. However, the legislation did not provide a clear procedure for such recognition, complicating the process. Now, to arrange a deferral, it is sufficient to obtain an extract from the Unified Register of Missing Persons under special circumstances.
The procedure for obtaining the extract involves submitting a request to the Department for Missing Persons under the Secretariat of the Commissioner for such individuals. The request must include information about the missing person as well as proof of the familial relationship with the applicant. Additionally, copies of documents confirming identity and family relations must be sent.
Requests can be submitted by mail or via email to: 10 Bohomoltsia St., Kyiv, 01601 or [email protected]. Details about the process are available through the respective links.
